Career Start Fellowship Scheme

Across Sunderland there is an ambitious vision for health and social care and this is an excellent opportunity to have an active part in realising that vision. The GP Fellowship Scheme is a 2 year programme of support aimed at welcoming GPs into general practice and their Primary Care Network and allowing for both personal and professional growth.

As a Career Start Fellowship GP you will have:

• £75,600 salary per annum
• £3,000 towards approved education and training courses
• Payment of professional indemnity fees
• Protected paid 2 CPD sessions each week
• Mentorship from an experienced GP (6 hours)
• Peer support and monthly teaching sessions with other Fellows
• Leadership development
• Protected time to attend Primary Care Network meetings (12 sessions over 2 years)
• Visa sponsorship if required
• A choice of practices, all practices in Sunderland are eligible to host Career Start Fellows.

This programme is designed to support you to be an effective and confident GP. As a Fellowship GP you will be a key member of the primary care team in your host General Practice, managing a caseload and dealing with a wide range of presenting health care needs. You will work with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of care are provided and be an active contributor to planning and decision-making as part of the practice team. In addition, you will have opportunities to broaden your experience within the PCN which your host practice belongs to and to participate in a quality improvement activity, for example, improving the uptake of cancer screening.

This Scheme is about providing an environment that encourages you to grow in your career and with your mentor help you to achieve your personal aspirations.
